Madam,
I find myself compelled to comment with regard to your article on the celebrations of the royal marriage and the display in the Oxfam shop in Aberystwyth.
I was born and educated in Wales and have now retired to Wales. My father was born, educated and died in Wales, and my grandfather was born, educated, worked and died in Wales.
In fact I can trace my family back seven generations and all have been born, educated, married and died in Wales, so I think I can justifiably claim to be Welsh and I am proud to be Welsh, but I cannot understand the comments made about some very simple celebrations of the recent royal wedding.
I feel part of a nation that has a reputation for being tolerant, accepting and welcoming.Look how we have helped refugees from war-torn countries – surely that is the culture we should be proud of?
I would like to invite Mr Antur or any other person who felt offended by the shop display to explain why they found it so offensive because if I’m missing something here I would really like to know.
I always respect the views of others, even if I don’t agree with them, but I do not feel it is right that individuals should impose their views on others.
We all have the right to go about our daily lives and to enjoy ourselves, as long as we stay within the law of course!
Yours etc,
Eddie Ffoulkes-Jones, Trefenter, Aberystwyth.
