Madam,

Nothing encapsulates the inadequacies of the outgoing Plaid coalition more than the letter in the Cambrian News in which the two councillors for Llanbadarn Fawr admit that they were misinformed by their own administration when the decision was made to sell Cwmpdarn School.

Not only did their leader Cllr Ellen ap Gwynn make a decision to sell Cwmpadarn school based on inaccurate information, but neither councillor saw fit to inform Llanbadarn residents or the community council that the council was considering selling the school.

It is disingenuous of them to blame the council, as members of the council they bear the responsibility.

As a resident of Llanbadarn Fawr, I had written to the council asking as to the future of the school sometime before Cabinet took the decision to sell, a matter the leader should have known about and something that should have been shared by her with her Plaid Cymru colleagues.

The councillors’ letter ends by stating that: “It is only right that Llanbadarn Fawr Community Council and residents of the village have the opportunity to show an interest in the future of the former Cwmpadarn School site”.

I am glad that they agree with me but it is the the duty of a councillor to keep residents informed. I for one would be very interested to see a public meeting being held by Ceredigion County Council for Llanbadarn residents.

In less than a month, over 180 people have signed a petition to save the land in Cwmpadarn School.

This is indicative of the interest and feeling of the local community.

Yours etc,

Juliet Price, Llanbadarn Fawr, Aberystwyth.
