THE latest lucky winner of a four-figure grant to travel to Patagonia has been announced.
On 1 March, not only did Ffestiniog Town Council mark St Davids Day, but it also announced Ffestiniog’s annual Patagonia/Rawson Scholarship.
The Scholarship, worth £1,500, was founded to help fund a young person from the Ffestiniog Town Council catchment area to visit Rawson, and strengthen the ties between the two towns, which where twinned in 2015.
The scholarship, which is open to 16-30 year olds from the Ffestiniog area, takes form on a 1,500 word essay, which was judged ‘blindly# by three independent judges Tecwyn Vaughan Jones, Ceinwen Humphries and Annwen Jones.
The winner, Elin Roberts, was presented with the scholarship by Cllr Annwen Daniels, Ffestiniog Town Council chairman, and was wished all the best with her visit to Patagonia.
The town council thanked the three independent judges for their “excellent work”.
