Ceredigion council has suspended its garden waste collection service since the first lockdown in March 2020. This was understandable at the time as no-one knew how the pandemic would progress. However, it has still not reinstated the service, unlike all the adjoining council areas.

There has been a message on its website since 25 March 2021, stating “The garden waste and bulky household waste is currently under review and advice will follow shortly”. I am not sure what their definition is of “shortly”.

I can only assume that council officials have been unable to think of anywhere to sell the waste bags, being unable to use the tourist information centre and council offices which are currently closed to the public.I have noticed that the TIC in Aberystwyth has started to be restocked, suggesting that it may reopen soon. If this is the case, can the council confirm that it will resume these services, vital to those without their own transport, as soon as they are able to sell their waste bags again or are they abandoning this service?
