AS PART of their Hallowe’en celebrations, the woodland team at the Centre for Alternative Technology broke the world record for the biggest witch’s broom.

The broom was made from birch on Friday, at a free event for people to take part in.

It is 15 metres long from top to tip and has a sweep strip of one metre.

The wood used for this broom was taken from CAT’s sustainably managed woodlands, the handle from birch wood and the brush from birch brash.

CAT will be running activities for children throughout half-term including making your own witches broom — although slightly smaller.
