WORK has been carried out on a bridge near Efailnewydd following safety concerns.
Gwynedd Council has now carried out re-pointing work at Pont Bodfel and has also replaced the handrails.
Cllr Anwen Davies said she is thrilled the work has finally been carried out and is now hoping further improvements can be made to the bridge.
She said: “I’m really pleased with the recent work that has been carried out on the bridge; the council has done a great job.
“The last two years I have been in talks with the council for the work to be carried out, so it’s fantastic to see it has now been completed.
“It was very dangerous; the handrails weren’t secure, some parts had broken off and it looked really messy.
“The bridge also desperately needed re-pointing, so I’m happy that has been dealt with as well.
“Now I’m hoping to hold talks with the council on what more can be done to improve the bridge further.
“It is very narrow so we will be looking at different options to see what can be done. I can’t really say what will be done soon, but we will be discussing various options in the near future."
