PENPARCAU will be a “buzzing haven” for bees this summer following a well-attended workshop to help create a bee-friendly garden.
The event, which was hosted by the Bumblebee Conservation Trust at Quaker Hall, on Friday, 10 February, included junk modelling and collaging with RAY Ceredigion with the aim of designing bee-friendly features for the new community centre.
Sinead Lynch, conservation officer for the project, said: “The event went really well; I think we had about 30 people attending including adults and children.
“We had RAY Ceredigion helping with the junk modelling, and we also asked people to ‘dot vote’ on different plants they would like to see in the green space at Penparcau Community Centre.

“It seems like there were quite a few people keen to do more bee-friendly planting around Aberystwyth, so it may be that we can develop these ideas to make all of Aberystwyth a buzzing haven for bees.”
