A WORLD famous explorer is making an appearance in Tywyn.

Bruce Parry, right, is an explorer and BAFTA-award-winning documentary presenter, famous for his sensitive and straightforward style of investigation into difficult subjects in extremely remote locations.

Best known for his BBC documentaries Tribe, Amazon and Arctic, Bruce’s documentaries have been acquired by and shown in over 150 countries.

In his latest adventure Bruce makes his directorial debut with Tawai: A Voice from the Forest, which he is introducing in the Magic Lantern cinema, Tywyn, on 3 December before holding a question and answer session after the film has finished.

The film is an investigation that takes you from tribal communities in the forests of Borneo and the Amazon, to the Saddhu of India on the Ganges, to the Isle of Skye.

In Tawai, Bruce explores what has happened to humankind since we stopped roaming and began to settle – when we stopped being at one with nature and began to shape it to our own needs.

How has this affected tribes around the world? And what we can learn from their way of living?

Mark Bond, who represents the Magic Lantern, said: “We’re super-excited to welcome Bruce to the Magic Lantern.

“He is a legendary documentary maker, and his film is one of the most important and beautiful of 2017.”
