Editor,
I was appalled to read (Letters, Cambrian News, 27 February) from Jane Hibbert, Forge, Machynlleth, recounting her visit to a doctor and the lack of empathy and respect she received.
She asked for a simple blood pressure check, which probably would take less time than the tirade of words about ‘money wastage, savings in the NHS and non-essential procedures’ had taken!
Regardless of anyone’s age or position in society, this is not the way to treat patients.
Perhaps we need to return to local 24-hour care for patients which obviously worked for a very long time, giving a system where patients can see a doctor and speak about other related problems. It is worrying when told by 8.30am that there are no doctors’ appointments available. No wonder the A&E departments in this country are struggling!
