In your latest edition you quote the leader of Gwynedd Council saying that homelessness has reached crisis point in the county. In the Meirionnydd regional one, he said they had received 51 homeless applications.

I have lived in Llanbedr for nearly 15 years and there is a house that has stood empty for all that time, if not longer.

It is a well-built, double-fronted stone cottage with garden. I have been led to believe the reason it is empty is that the owners want to keep it as they remember it when their parents lived there, in other words a memorial.

Whether this is correct or not, it is wrong that this property is empty when, as the council says, there are many people who are homeless.

Why doesn’t the council do something? Perhaps compulsory purchase; anything to turn it once more into a home.
