I would like to respond to the writer who last week mentioned the 13 children who have died from Covid-19 in the UK. These deaths are indeed tragic for the families concerned but they are, quite clearly, the exception to the rule.
On the CDC website, it states that only six per cent of Covid-19 deaths were solely from Covid. The other 94 per cent occurred in people who had, on average, 2.6 additional conditions (i.e. they died with Covid and not from it.)
In 2019, around 150,000 people were injured and nearly 2,000 killed on the roads in the UK. Many of them were probably under the age of 25. Distressing, yet we accept it as a sad fact of life.
Humans are, on the whole, sociable, expressive and tactile creatures and we are having our way of life dehumanised and controlled. Told to keep our distance, cover our faces. Banned from gathering together in churches, theatres, each others homes etc. All these restrictions for a virus which the World Health Organisation says has a less than one per cent fatality rate.
