THE new chairman of Meirionnydd YFC is expecting “great things” from the organisation this year.

Meirionnydd YFC held its AGM on Tuesday night, 19 September, in Rhydymain, to elect new officers and to celebrate the end of yet another successful year.

The evening was full of reports from each club and results from last year’s competitions, and an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of individual clubs and highlight the valuable work of the organisation in rural Meirionnydd.

Nia Wyn Evans, from Dolgellau, was elected president of Meirionnydd YFC for 2017/2018 by its members, and Dafydd Jones, of Bryncrug, was elected chairman.

The AGM fell on the same week as National Young Farmers’ Week (18-24 September). The aim of the week is to promote the valuable work of the YFC to raise awareness of the benefits the federation can offer by providing an active social network and developing skills to young people.

This was excellent timing as it was clear from Meirionnydd YFC’s AGM, the skills young people developed through competitions, training, travel and agricultural activities have all proven to benefit.

Dafydd Jones, newly elected chairman said: “A big congratulation to all clubs and members for yet another successful year.

“Membership number are up again and I think that Meirionnydd YFC is a place to achieve great things!”
