The 2026 show marks the 158th anniversary of the Merioneth County Show, showcasing a rich heritage that reflects the enduring spirit and values of the agricultural community. The show is a proud display of livestock, rural skills, and countryside crafts. Among the key attractions are cattle competitions featuring Welsh Black, Charolais, Limousin, Salers, and commercial breeds, as well as an impressive sheep section that includes Welsh Mountain Pedigree and Hill Lamb, Welsh Half Bred, Suffolk, and several more. Horse lovers can enjoy competitions featuring Welsh Ponies and Cobs, Miniatures, Shires, and show jumping events.

The show isn’t just for farmers and breeders. It’s promoted as “An Ideal Day Out for the Whole Family,” with something for everyone. Visitors can explore a wide array of trade stands, displays, and demonstrations that appeal to people of all interests. These range from vintage machinery and tractors to cookery demonstrations, horticulture, home produce, arts and crafts, and more. For the children, there’s a funfair, a mini petting zoo, and entertainment tailored to younger audiences.

The event also includes dog shows, and a companion dog section, alongside sheep dog trials, adding to the traditional rural atmosphere. Additionally, there are horse and pony competitions, vintage vehicles on display, and competitions in skills such as dry stone walling, and sheep shearing.

Sadly this year there is no poultry, due to avian flu restrictions, and no farriery.
