RACHEL’S Talybont notched their sixth consecutive win in the West Wales Cricket Club Conference as they registered a convincing 128-run win over Aberystwyth Seconds at Y Geufron last weekend.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Talybont had set a target of 235 for 6, with Philip Abraham leading the way with a brilliant knock of 100, and then Graison John took three wickets in dismissing Aber Seconds for 106 all out.

On an overcast day, skipper Sojan Varghese won the toss and openers Ben Harper and Graison John were dismissed early, followed by Joseph Joshi and Vinod Mathew to make it 40 for 4 after 11 overs.

This brought skipper Varghese and Philip Abraham to the crease and they put on a partnership of 175, before Varghese was retired hurt for a patiently played 55.

Abraham started his innings slowly, but he later shifted the gears and hit 11 fours and 2 sixes for his excellent 100, before he was caught off Dafydd Jones’ bowling.

Jamie Holder took 2 for 28 for Aber, with Tom Constantine (2 for 22) and Dafydd Jones (2 for 38) claiming the other wickets.

In reply, Aberystwyth Seconds’ openers Antony Burrell and Paul Evans started well, but then Evans was caught by Jijo Manuel off Tibin’s bowling for 10 runs.

The Aber batsmen struggled to get the required runs, with wickets falling at regular intervals, and the damage was done by Graison John (3 for 6), Tibby Joseph (2 for 30) and Milton John (2 for 24).

Antony Burrell played patiently before he was caught for 35, but the response finally ended on 106 all out with Talybont taking all the league points on offer.
