LLECHRYD bounced back to winning ways in Thomas Carroll Pembrokeshire League division two as they put daylight between themselves and third-placed Hook with a comfortable win by 101 runs.

The returning John Curran and Joe Mansfield both scored half centuries as Llechryd set a target of 200 for 7 after 45 overs at the RDM Oval, before Graham Keen’s five wickets ultimately dismissed the visitors for 99 all out in the 32nd over.

Hook had elected to field, but Llechryd openers James Betteley and John Curran took 38 balls to score the first 50 runs. Betteley hit 3 fours, before he was bowled for 14, and Curran, whose first three scoring shots were boundaries, went on to top score with 65, with 9 fours in total.

Joe Mansfield, batting at number five, continued momentum as he fired six fours in his 52, and enjoyed a partnership of 53 runs for the sixth wicket with Graham Keen, who made 25, with 4 fours.

The hosts scraped maximum batting points as they totalled 200 for 7, with Andrew Davies also making double figures with 10 not out, before the innings ended.

Matthew Holder led the bowling with 3 for 41 from his 12 overs. Brennan Martin (1 for 25), Aled Phelps (1 for 54), and Dai Hopkins (1 for 33) also claimed wickets.

Hook’s reply never took off as tight bowling and quality fielding kept the run rate down. John Curran returned 2 wickets for 25 from his 12 overs, with three maidens, and Rhys Beard returned 1 for 12 from 7 overs, also with three maidens.

Number three bat Aled Phelps top scored with 27, before he became the first victim of Graham Keen, who finished off the tail to return five wickets for 20 runs.

Peter Betteley also took 2 for 32, including the middle order wickets of Jake Wicks (10) and Brennan Martn (14), before Hook were shot out in the 29th over.

LLECHRYD Seconds held out for an away draw against their Hook counterparts the Thomas Carroll Pembrokeshire League division four, after scoring 183 for 5 in reply to the home side’s of 230 for 4.

Gareth Owen was not out on 66 for Hook, with Bradley Flood making 39, Sam Rossiter 31, and Lewis Miller 21, whilst Andrew Thomas took 2 for 11.

For Llechryd, Ollie Roberts made a vital contribution of 89 runs for Llechryd, and he was supported by Rob Mansfield (35).
