Carew 2nds (175 for 9) lost to Llechryd (176 for 1) by 9 wickets

JOHN Curran blasted an undefeated century as Llechryd made light work of their run chase at Carew in the Thomas Carroll Pembrokeshire division two.

The opener hit 111 not out as the visitors easily overcame a potentially tricky target of 176 to win by nine wickets.

The Rooks posted a total of 175 for 9 as opener Eugene McCarney top scored with 34, including three fours and two sixes, before holing out to Joe Mansfield, off the bowling of Graham Keen.

Fellow opener Barry Evans hit 17, Robbie Hicks 30 (4 fours and a six), Dai Rees 28 (2 fours and 2 sixes), Max Brindley 19 (2 fours and a six) and Jacob Knox 15 not out to help Carew to a competitive total.

Jonny Lewis (4 for 27), James (1 for 26), Peter Betterley (1 for 22), Keen (1 for 33) and Rhys Beard (2-47) took wickets.

The visitors then set up their win with an opening stand of 93 between Curran and James Betterley, before the latter was caught by Rhys Grigg off Barry Evans (1 for 46) for 24. That was the only wicket to fall though as Curran went on to hit 15 fours and two sixes, and he was joined by Lewis (34 not out) in easing Llechryd to a nine-wicket win with 10 overs to spare.Last weekend’s division two results: Carew II (175-9) lost to Llechryd (176-1) by 9 wkts; Hook (117-6) beat Haverfordwest II (116) by 4 wkts; Johnston (177-5) drew with Pembroke Dock (172-8); Kilgetty (268) beat Cresselly II (127) by 141 runs; Narberth (119-2) beat Pembroke (118) by 8 wkts.• Llechryd Seconds won by two wickets over Llanrhian Seconds at the RDM Oval, after the visitors were restricted to 130 for 9 in Pembrokeshire division four.

At one stage the visitors were 51 for 5 as Kelvin Holmes snapped 4 for 15, but the tail wagged, despite Peter Gregory also claiming 4 for 32. Michael Lawrence top scored for the visiting team with 42 runs.
