LLECHRYD lifted themselves to the top of the Thomas Carroll Pembrokeshire League division two standings with a 65-run win against Carew Seconds.

After being asked to bat first, the hosts made 192 for 9, with opener James Bettley leading the way with 50 runs, including a partnership of 92 for the first wicket with Michael Carter, who contributed 38.

Carter was bowled out by Rhys Grigg, and it became 97 for 2 when Betteley was unfortunately run out, but John Curran, batting at three also made 23, before he was caught and bowled by Barry Evans.

Jonny Lewis (35), Joe Mansfield (12), Rhys Beard (13) and Andrew Davies (12) also made double figures for Llechryd, with the wickets falling to Iori Hicks (4 for 47), Barry Evans (2 for 38), Rhys Grigg (1 for 32) and Kerry Waters (1 for 22).

The visitors fell to 127 all out, despite the efforts of opener Barry Evans (23), Haydn Shapcott (10) and Robert Hicks (13), and Iori Hicks (26), Alex Wilkes (13) and Rhys Grigg (19) lower down their order.

Peter Betteley (3 for 32 from 9 overs, 3 maidens), Curran (4 for 24 from 11 overs, 5 maidens) and Jonny Lewis (2 for 17 from 12 overs) were instrumental as Carew were all out for 127 in 45 overs.

Meanwhile the game involving previous leaders Narberth at Pembroke was abandoned after 33 overs as veteran umpire John Williams was hit on the head by the ball. Williams, aged 80, and was taken by air ambulance to Glangwili Hospital.

Division Two Results: Cresselly II (238-4) lost to Kilgetty (239-3) by 7 wkts; Haverfordwest II (109) lost to Hook (111-3) by 7 wkts; Llechryd (192-9) beat Carew II (127) by 65 runs; Pembroke (0) ab v Narberth (0) Abandoned - Umpire injured; Pembroke Dock (278-8) drew with Johnston (300-9).

• Llechryd Seconds notched a two-wicket away success over their Llanrhian counterparts in their Thomas Carroll Pembrokeshire League division four match.

Llanrhian made 145 all out, with scores by Julian Harries (57) and Anthony John (33), whilst wickets fell to Dafydd Davies (4 for 31) and Tom Lewis (2 for 20).

The visitors got the winning runs for the loss of eight wickets, with Simon Newlands making 31 and Ollie Roberts 29, with Tony Kitchell returning 3 for 17.Division Four Results: Burton II (246-8) drew with Crymych (235-8); Haverfordwest IV (101) lost to St Ishmaels II (102-1) by 9 wkts; Hook II (169-7) lost to Carew III (173-6) by 4 wkts; Llanrhian II (145) lost to Llechryd II (148-8) by 2 wkts; Neyland II (86-0) beat Saundersfoot II (85) by 10 wkts.• Crymych batsman Richard Thorne struck an unbeaten century as they drew their division four match, scoring 173 for 6, in reply to Burton Seconds’ 246 for 8.

Thorne made a magnificent 126 not out, with support from Ioan Davies (32), but Llechryd wickets fell to Dan Griffiths (2 for 16) and Louis Murphy (4 for 59).

Earlier on, Joe John (93), Gareth Virgo (32) and Paul Webb (30) had helped Burton to a big total, despite wickets falling to Ioan Davies (1 for 39), Rhodri Thomas (2 for 50) and Hedd Nicholas (1 for 20).
