LLECHRYD continue to fly high in the Pembrokeshire League division three after they defeated visitors Herbrandston by seven wickets at the Castell Malgwyn Ground, with veteran left arm bowler Peter Betterley outstanding once again.

The visitors were restricted to 95-9, with Harry Nicholas unbeaten on 38 and Shaun Gelona making 21.

Betterley took 3 for 11 and Tom Beard snapped up a couple of wickets for just five runs, with some good tight support from in John Curran and Mark Newell.

Llechryd in reply knocked the runs off quite quickly with Mike Carter hitting a brisk 36 not out, and Johnnie Lewis chipping in with 37 as the home side raced to a comfortable win for the loss of only three wickets.

• Crymych were all out for 160, before they lost by six wickets at Neyland Seconds, with Paul Miller leading the way on 63 not out.

Richard Thorne had shone with the bat for the Preseli men with 94 not out, and Ewan Davies made 26, but Rodney Murphy took 2 for 26 and Jason Oakley 2 for 28 to keep the visitors in check.

• Llechryd Seconds also enjoyed another win when they accounted for Narberth Seconds by four wickets in division four, with Rob Mansfield leading the way with a fine knock of 46.

The Otters posted a total score of 129 for 8, with Huw Impkins with 37 and Mike Williams 31 not out their main run getters. Adam Betts, with 3 for 25, and Andrew Fletcher, 2 for 22, were the pick of the bowlers.

Llechryd made light work of the run chase with Rob Mansfield making 46 runs and Paul Beasley 25, despite some bowling success for Louis Davies (2-26) and Cameron Pritchard (2-19).
