Pwllheli (223 for 9) beat Denbigh (111) by 112 runs

PWLLHELI batsman Chris Moore contributed 89 runs as they posted a total of 223 for 9 from their 50 overs, before dismissing Denbigh for 111 all out in their North Wales League Premier Division match at Parc Bodegroes.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, the hosts overcame the loss of Lawrance Barraclough (2) and Iain Metcalf (9), with number three bat Tristan Coetzee hitting 3 boundaries in his knock of 24.Morgan Murray-Williams was also dismissed for 8 and Craig Edwards for 0 to make the score 56 for 5, but Chris Moore came in and made a real impact.

After losing Guto Roberts lbw for 6, Moore formed a formidable seventh-wicket partnership with Kalim Syed, to advance the score from 98 for 6 to 202 for 7.Syed was ultimately bowled for 46, including 4 fours and a six, just four runs short of a half-century, and Moore went on to strike 12 fours and a six, before he was caught for 89, off 115 balls.

Pwllheli finished on 223 for 9 after their 50 overs, with Andy Clarke claiming 4 for 55 from his 12 overs. Ifan Jones took 3 for 39 from 7 overs, Sam Lewis 1 for 40 from 12 overs, and Stuart Griffiths 1 for 34 from 12.

In reply, Denbigh lost opener Joe Clayton and number three bat Tom Scrimshaw, both for nought, but opener Andy Clarke went on to post 45, which included 7 fours.

Sam Lewis (14), Andy Thomas (15) and Stuart Griffiths (21) also made double figures in the middle order, but the home team remained on top, with Guto Roberts, Iwan Moore, Morgan Murray-Williams, Iain Metcalfe, Kalim Syed and Craig Edwards all taking catches.

Denbigh capitulated from 102 for 5 to 111 all out in 35.2 overs, with Kalim Syed taking 3 for 31 from 10 overs, including three maidens.

Tristan Coetzee finished on 2 for 25 from his 8.2 overs, with three maidens, and Iwan Moore 2 for 19 from 6 overs, after Morgan Murray-Williams had returned 2 for 21 from 9 overs, 2 maidens.

• Pwllheli Seconds finished on 201 for 7, in reply to 223 all out in their closely North Wales League division three match away at Connah’s Quay.

Andrew Tilley had led the way for the home side as he smashed 15 fours and a six, before finally being caught for 95, just short of a century.

Phil Keidel (39), Martin Colecliffe (17) and Calum Jones (15) provided support as the hosts set a testing target, despite wickets falling to Osian Williams (4 for 30), Ioan Roberts (2 for 37), and Kartik Bhardwaj (2 for 40).

Opener Neil Williams (55), Cian Goodman (47), Kartik Bhardwaj (24) and Nishanth Chinthangal (21) helped Pwllheli to 200, they finished 22 runs short on 201 for 7.

Chris Boden (2 for 27) and Martin Hough (3 for 60) took the bulk of the wickets.
