PWLLHELI’s Syed Kaleem Aslam struck a half century and claimed three wickets to lead his side to a 77-run victory over Connah’s Quay in the North Wales League Premier Division at Bodegroes.

Aslam came in at number seven and hit 5 fours and 3 sixes off 48 balls to help his side post a decent total of 233 for 7 after 50 overs, with the visitors being dismissed all out for 156 in the 42nd over.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Pwllheli had to overcome the loss of opener Craig Edwards, bowled by Mali Auty for 11, having hit two fours.

Tristan Coetzee joined Logan Rhys Morgan at the crease, and they added 52 runs for the second wicket. Morgan was bowled by Callum Miller for 19, and Coetzee struck 6 fours before he was caught from the bowling of Scott Adams for 34.

Chris Moore, batting at number four, also showed intent as he hit 3 boundaries, before being caught for 29 from bowler Martin Burger. More boundaries followed from Guto Roberts, with 2 fours in his 19, and Lawrance Barraclough, 4 fours in his 22. Aslam then took centre stage, however, as he fired a quick-fire half century to take Pwllheli beyond 200 runs.

Scott Adams (2 for 44 from 12 overs, with 2 maidens) finally had Aslam caught for 51 by captain Martin Burger, but there was further resistance from Adam Williams (21 not out) and Ben Cowper (14 not out) on a day of big hitting by the home batsmen.

Quay found themselves in trouble at 29 for 2 and were always behind the run chase.

Tristan Coetzee (3 for 30 from 10 overs, 2 maidens) accounted for both openers, with Callum Miller dismissed lbw for 9, and Burge caught by Iwan Moore for 18. >Number three batsman Gareth Evans hit 2 fours, but was caught by Barraclough for 15 from bowler Chris Moore (1 for 16 from 4 overs).Scott Adam was also halted in his tracks when he was bowled for 12 by Ioan Roberts (1 for 17 from 7 overs). Dylan Stout, batting at six, hit out with 7 fours on his way to 35, but was caught by Craig Edwards from Aslam.

Rob Downey also fired 5 boundaries in his unbeaten 36, but wickets tumbled at the other end as Aslam (3 for 40 from 9 overs) and Logan Rhys Morgan (12 for 13 from 3 overs) ensured that Quay were all out for 156, with wicket-keeper Barraclough finishing with four catches.

PWLLHELI Seconds won by four wickets at Mold as a half century by Rhys Griffiths saw them successfully chase down their target of 162 in their division three match.

Mold opener Ewan Hill top scored with a knock of 74, before he was finally caught and bowled by Cian Goodman (1 for 15 from 4 overs). Lower down the order Hugh Archdale (23), John Williams (16), Jonathan Clayton (15) and Rhys Hughes (16) scored late runs.

Kalim Al Baloshi (4 for 40 from 10 overs), Osian Williams (2 for 38 from 10 overs), Nishanth Chinthangal (2 for 30 from 10) ensured Mold were all out in the 43rd over.

In reply, Pwllheli number three Griffiths laid the foundations with his knock of 64 runs, with good support from Ciam Goodman (23). Jayakanth Zupudi then took charge with 42 not out, as Pwllheli reached 166 for 6.

Pick of the bowlers were Josh Jones, who claimed 3 for 27 from 8, and Luca Davies, who bowled tightly for 1 for 24 from 10 overs, 4 maidens.
