ABERYSTWYTH Town have shown their intent for the rest of the season with the addition of four new players in the January transfer window.

Guinea-Bissau international Pavel Vieira, Ruthin captain Ilan Hughes and former Bala star David Thompson all came straight into the side in Aber’s superb 3-0 win at Caernarfon Town on Friday.

The Seasiders have also confirmed the signing of prolific Guilsfield striker Adam Davies, who has already scored 17 goals for the Cymru North side this season.

Midfielder Pavel Vieira has played in the Welsh Premier for Bangor City and in the Cymru Alliance for Airbus UK Broughton - with whom he won the 2019 title, before rejoining City this summer.

Born in the West African country of Guinea-Bissau, 27 year-old Vieira spent his youth career in Portugal, and made his professional debut for S.C. Olhanense in the Portuguese Primera Liga.

He made his debut for the Guinea-Bissau national team in 2011, a 4–1 friendly win over Equatorial Guinea at the Estádio do Restelo in Lisbon. He subsequently played for a series of clubs in Portugal before joining Bangor in 2016.

"Pavel’s transfer has been confirmed by the FAW," said a club spokesman.

"He was allocated shirt number five, in time to join the Black and Greens’ squad for the game at Caernarfon Town. Everyone at the Club welcomes him to Park Avenue."

The Seasiders have also revealed that Ruthin captain midfielder Ilan Hughes has joined the Club last week.

The 26 year-old impressed the Aber management team in their recent Welsh Cup tie against the Denbighshire side with his work rate, technique and passing ability.

“He famously scored from the half way line for Ruthin in a televised Welsh Cup tie at Llandudno two years ago, and will be another strong addition to Aber’s midfield,” said a spokesman.

“A Welsh speaker from Corwen, Ilan will be another popular addition to the Black and Greens’ roster, and will wear the number 19 shirt. We would like to thank the officials of Ruthin Town for their professional cooperation with the transfer.”

The Seasiders completed their third signing last week with the addition of David Thompson from Bangor City.

The 28 year-old Liverpudlian is an experienced left-footed defender, known for his buccaneering forward runs. He was part of Bala’s Welsh Cup winning side of 2017, and has also played for Rhyl, Llandudno and recently Bangor City, for whom he had signed in the summer.

“His know-how at Welsh Premier level will be a boost to Town’s defensive credentials in 2020,” said a spokesman. “We all also welcome David to Aber, and he also went straight into the squad for the match at Caernarfon, wearing number three.”

Guilsfield striker Adam Davies, 23, and from Shrewsbury, joined this week, having also played for The New Saints, Welshpool, Haughmond and Ellesmere Port.

“His performances in the Cymru North have caught the eye this season, and we hope that his superb goal scoring run continues in Phase two of the JD Cymru Premier,” said a spokesman.

“He is subject to a one match suspension, but he will join the Aberystwyth first team squad for the JD Welsh Cup match at The New Saints a week on Saturday.”

Meanwhile a number of players have moved on in the January transfer window, with the Club’s blessing.

Adam Hughes and Tom Price’s loan periods came to an end as planned, and both have returned to their parent clubs, The New Saints and Swansea City respectively.

Alex Boss and Steff Edwards have been also freed from their registrations, and they are understood to have signed for Bangor City and Cefn Druids respectively.
