BARMOUTH and Dyffryn United continued their late-season revival in the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance division one by beating Mynydd Llandygai decisively 4-0 at their Wern Mynach home.
Carl Ryan’s side have now moved well clear of the relegation zone, and still have a handful of fixtures to play.
Shane Jones opened the scoring on eight minutes, and Paul Lewis doubled the lead on 33 for a commanding 2-0 advantage at the interval.
Lewis and Jones both struck again in an equally compelling second half on 78 and 87 minutes for a 4-0 win.
Barmouth had also gained a huge boost in Thursday’s shock 3-1 away win over title aspirants Llangefni Town.
Richard Darlison made the difference with two exquisite goals, the first a classic 25 yard effort into the keeper’s top left hand corner on 58 minutes to make it 2-0, after Paul Lewis had netted five minutes before half time.
Llangefni came back into the game on 74 minutes through Matthew Jones, but Darlison put the result beyond doubt with his header 10 minutes before the end.
Penrhyndeudraeth’s late-season improvement, with four wins and a draw in six outings, was brought to a shuddering halt by a crushing 6-2 defeat at Greenfield.
Aled Hughes netted for Penrhyn just ahead of the interval to trim the arrears to 2-1, after Greenfield’s early goals from Sam Jones on 8 and Ashley Durham on 20.
After the resumption, however, the hosts produced three quick goals, through Danny Calvert on 50, Sion McHugh on 52 and Sam Jones on 53 for a 5-1 lead.
Meilir Williams revived Penrhyn’s hopes a little with his team’s second reply on 55 minutes, but Greenfield bossed the rest of the exchanges and added a late sixth goal by Calvert again.
Conwy Borough banked yet more points to virtually clinch the Alliance champions’ crown by winning in style at Llanrwst United 4-1.
The Gwydyr Park hosts snatched the lead within four minutes through Jack Whitley, but reply goals were netted through Borough’s Adam White after 8 minutes, Matthew Hughes on 40, Corrig McGonigle on 45 and White again on 87.
Llandyrnog were also away-day successes, when winning 4-0 at Trearddur Bay United, thanks to Billy Holmes’ hat-trick, after 4, 12 and 82 minutes, plus a single by Mark Pendleton on 56.
Llanrug United and St Asaph City drew 2-2, with home goals by Aaron Hughes on 44 minutes and Dylan Owen on 51 from a penalty, as against the away team’s replies by John Terry on 65 and Jake Walker on 89.
On Thursday, Pwllheli signed off their league campaign with a 3-0 defeat at Llanberis, where goals from Gwyn Jones on 10 and 30 minutes, and Aled Williams on 89 made sure of the win.
