BARMOUTH and Dyffryn United, despite being down to 10 men, banked much-needed Welsh Alliance division one points from a storming 4-2 win over Llanberis at their Wern Mynach ground.

Just a week after Llyr Hughes’ side had lost 4-1 to the same opponents in a Cookson Cup tie, they battled all the way to win, after having gone behind to Nidian Huws’ strike after 15 minutes.

Shane Jones equalised for the home team after 28 minutes, and they then nudged in front through Chris Wilkins netting after 40. Barmouth striker Adam Morris was sent off for violent conduct on 70 minutes - but barely 60 seconds later Gethin Evans scored.

Gwyn Jones trimmed the arrears to 2-3 on 80 minutes, but the reliable Rob Murfet then popped up right on 90 minutes with the fourth goal to secure their win.

Pwllheli’s recent improvement in form ended in a 3-1 defeat by Llangefni Town at Talwrn Road.

After just 12 minutes, Iwan Jones opened the scoring, and the hosts doubled the lead through Matthew Jones after the interval.

Mark Jones achieved Pwllheli’s reply goal on 68 minutes, but Llangefni prevailed with their third netted effort by Craig Evans, just four minutes from full time.

Welsh Alliance leaders Trearddur Bay dropped more precious points as they were held 2-2 at home to mid-table Nantlle Vale.

Trearddur had found themselves two goals down in the first half, with Ifan Hughes netting on 20 minutes and Aaron Hughes on 28, but replies from Dale Murphy on the hour and Miles Jones on 80 earned them a battling draw.

Glantraeth got to within a point in second place with a 3-1 result over Llandudno Junction, with goals from Marvin Pritchard on 22 minutes, Jamie Roberts on 77 and then Corrig McGonigle on 89.

Junction’s solitary reply was from Lee Ellis after 80 minutes.

High-flying Llandyrnog slipped to a 2-1 defeat to lowly-placed Llanrwst, who shrugged off Mike Lundstrom’s 20th minute opening strike with an own-goal on 62 and Callum Lloyd’s winner on 78.

St Asaph City won 1-0 away at Llanrug United, courtesy of a goal from Chris Bennett on 79 minutes.
