BORTH United settled for a 2-2 draw with Newbridge in the MMP Mid Wales League division two as they came from behind twice to earn a point through goals by Clive Morgan and Jay Walker.

Newbridge started brightly, with the wind on their backs, and it took only two minutes for captain Aeron Powell to open their scoring with a wind-assisted corner kick that looped up into the home net.

Borth equalised after 15 minutes when Mike Straw’s corner was met by Clive Morgan to head home through a crowd of players - but Bridge regained the lead after on the break when Elliot Williams’ shot hit the crossbar and rebounded into Jake Bufton’s path, and he finished well.

Borth began the second half in determined mood and after just two minutes a swift one-two between Jay Walker and Ryan Davies saw Walker score with a scorching drive.As the match progressed, the sticky conditions restricted both teams to only a few good chances and in the final minutes Ryan Davies nearly won it for the Crows when he saw his close range shot hit the post.

Penparcau returned to the top of division two as they eased to a 5-0 win over bottom club Knighton Town, to go ahead of Machynlleth on goal difference, and with a game in hand on their title rivals. Ryan Edwards and Liam Lewis both scored twice, with Nathan Warren also on the scoresheet.

Machynlleth, who have announced the arrival of former Carno manager Gwynfor Edwards as a coach to assist player-boss Luke Vince-Holt, meanwhile kept pace with a 4-2 win over Dyffryn Banw.

Richie Evans fired the first goal in the first minute from fully 30 yards, and he doubled the lead after quarter of an hour, before Harry Vince-Holt made it 3-0.

Ollie Higgins pulled one back before the interval, but Callum Page made it 4-1 with a wind assisted strike, before Gerald Davies headed in a late consolation.

Aberystwyth University drew 1-1 at home to Waterloo Rovers, with Luke Evans equalising for the visitors, after Jonathan Ackroyd had taken an interval lead.

Forden United’s Jake O’Donnell continued his rich vein of form by bagging a hat-trick in a 5-0 win against Presteigne, with Ryan Sutton also scoring twice.

Jamie Evans scored twice as Rhayader Town beat Abermule 3-1, with Jordan Mcfadden also netting for the hosts, whilst youngster Edward Jones got onto the scoresheet for the battling visitors.
