DEWI Sion Evans scored a hat-trick as Bont bounced back to winning ways in the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth and District League division one with a 4-1 win over Penrhyncoch Reserves.

Missing a few players, the hosts took time to get going, but they took the lead through a Dewi Sion penalty.

The first half ended at 1-1, however, after Owen Keyworth had deservedly equalised after some good pressure.

Bont finally got themselves going in the second half, and Garin Evans restored the lead when he slotted home from close range, and 10 minutes later it was 3-1 as Dewi Sion fired in a Ben Lewis corner at the tightest of angles.

Penrhyn bought on veteran Aneurin Thomas, who provided a real threat in the aerial battles, but Bont held out.

Before the end Dewi Sion completed another memorable hat-trick when he beat two defenders and lobbed the keeper from 25 yards for a 4-1 win.

Leaders Penparcau moved 11 points clear at the top of division one with an emphatic 9-1 win over Machynlleth Reserves, with Nathan Warren and Liam Jaques both scoring hat-tricks.

Ben Holt, Andrew Gittins and Michael Gornall also scored for Arky, with Derek Roberts netting the reply.

Tregaron Turfs had to settle for a share of the spoils in an action-packed 4-4 draw with top three rivals Llanilar.

Both teams had chances in the last 10 minutes to take all three points, but a draw was a fair result, with Mel Davies, Llyr Davies, Ifan Jones and Rhun Garner finding the net for the Turfs.

Guto Roberts, Ryan Edwards, Shon Morgans and Ryan Hopkins were all on target for hosts Llanilar, who remain level on points with the Turfs.

Talybont meanwhile notched their sixth league win of the season with a solid 3-1 win away at Padarn United.

The visitors took the lead early on through a beautiful strike from Osian Thomas, and they increased their lead midway through the half when Dylan Benjamin scored direct from a corner.

Just on half-time Padarn were awarded a penalty, which Paul Keegan converted, and with 20 minutes remaining Talybont were reduced to 10 men.

Talybont dug in, however, and they were rewarded with a late strike from Osian Thomas to claim the points.

Aberdyfi made a great start to 2019 as they recorded a comfortable 5-1 home win against Llanilar Reserves, to close in at the top of division two.

Sion Gittins netted for Llanilar, but Mike Rees and Tim Holt both scored twice for Dyfi, along with a Ben Price effort as they moved to within three points of leaders Penrhyncoch Thirds.

Padarn United Reserves notched their second win of the season with a 4-1 away at Llanon, where Jason Boswell, Matthew Savage, Chris Carton and Carl Wolley sealed the points.

COSTCUTTER CEREDIGION LEAGUE

ST DOGMAELS came through for a 2-1 derby win in the Costcutter Ceredigion League division one, but they were forced to work very hard against a Cardigan Town team that played for the last 40 minutes with just 10 men.

Peter Almond and skipper Jason Williams went close for the Saints, but the deadlock was finally broken after the break when Almond’s rocket shot flew into the net, despite impressive young keeper Steff Marsden managing to get his hand to the strong effort.

The loss of influential midfielder Ben Davies for a second booking knocked the stuffing out of the Magpies, and Adam Williams saw a curling shot well saved, and Chris Morgan, Rhys Jones and Ioan Owen all went close.

A goal finally came when a shot back across the box from Jones struck Jack Thomas on the shin and looped up over keeper Marsden, who had no chance of saving the deflected effort.

Cardigan did hit back late on when a long punt from the right wing deceived keeper Casey Walters, and Craig Poole was on hand to tap home.

Meanwhile Crannog notched a 3-1 win over Lampeter Town to remain level on points with the leaders, but St Dogmaels have four games in hand.

Second half goals from George Cohen, Rhys Davies and Gary Davies helped steer the home team to their 10th league success of the campaign.

Dion Davies scored a hat-trick as Newcastle Emlyn beat local rivals Llandysul by 4-1, having taken a 2-0 lead in the opening half with goals from Davies and Robbie Jenkins.

Davies fired home his second goal with a super finish at the back post, and although the Swallows hit the net with a cross-come-shot, Davies ran on to a Steffan Evans free kick to nod the ball home for his perfect hat-trick

Elsewhere Ffostrasol consolidated their mid-table position with a narrow 2-1 win over Felinfach at Parc Troedrhiw, with a late penalty from Gethin Edwards securing the three points.

The Milkmen went a goal down when Sion Evans struck from well outside the box, but they managed to level matters until Edwards calmly slotted home to secure the points.

The battle between Bargod Rangers and Aberaeron Reserves ended at 1-1.

Costcutter Ceredigion Division Two

DEWI Stars increased their lead at the top of the Costcutter League division two with a 2-1 win over Newcastle Emlyn Reserves, in a tough encounter against more experienced opponents.

With a few of the Stars’ more experienced players on a skiing holiday, eight youths started, with another three on the bench - and Emlyn took the lead straight off the kick-off when Wayne Hand netted after 10 seconds.

Sixteen-year-old striker Guto Green had to make an early exit with a nasty injury, but the Stars managed to equalise on 20 minutes when Siencyn Jones drilled in a low shot passed Tom Blueth from the edge of the box, after good work from Oscar Cayo Evans.

On the half hour Siencyn Jones curled in a corner under the bar, and an unfortunate Johnny Buck kneed the ball into his net for the winner.

After the break, Rhodri Edwards and Tomos Jones and testing free kicks from Daniel Williams and Siencyn Jones all went close for the Stars.

Elsewhere New Quay overcame St Dogmaels Reserves by 2-1 with goals from Oliver Evans and veteran Jonion Evans, whilst Ffostrasol Reserves won 6-0 at Llandysul Reserves, and Maesglas drew 1-1 against Aberporth.
