BORTH United produced a tremendous effort in their ER Jenkins Division Two Cup semi-final at sunny Camlad Park, but it is Churchstoke who will go one to face Aberystwyth University in the final on 5 May after registering a 4-2 win.
Borth, eager to bounce back from the disappointment of missing out on promotion on goal difference to their opponents, had taken the lead with a 30 yard strike by Liam Berner.
On the stroke of half-time, however, Churchstoke equalised when Neil Yapp’s free kick from outside the penalty area found the back of the Borth net.
Early pressure in the second half from Borth brought its rewards as Ryan Davies made progress down the right wing and crossed to the ever-alert Liam Lewis to volley passed the home keeper.
Churchstoke again replied when the prolific Joe Haycock scored their equaliser, but within minutes Ryan Davies was unlucky to see his low shot turned away for a corner by the goalkeeper.
Both teams produced all-out effort to secure their place in the final, but in the end two late goals from Haycock, to complete his well-taken hat-trick, made the tie safe for the border club.
