BORTH United had to share the spoils as Newbridge hit back from three goals down two to snatch a dramatic 3-3 at Penybont Fields in the MMP Mid Wales division two last weekend.
The visitors opened the scoring when Clive Morgan’s floated cross wasn’t dealt with and Gethin ap Dafydd scored his first goal for the first team from close in.Newbridge’s goal led a charmed life as Ryan Davies’ rising shot forced a full length save, and the Borth danger man then saw his chip shot hit the crossbar.
Within minutes of the second half Newbridge’s Kyle Morgan was unlucky to see his snap shot rebound to safety off the base of the post, but Borth increased their lead when Dion Ellis-Clark rounded the keeper for his first goal for the first team.
As Borth pressed forward, Ryan Davies’ shot on the turn looked destined for the top corner, only to be superbly palmed away for a corner, but when Clive Morgan seized on to a long kick from keeper Ben Willis he slid home for a 3-0 lead.
As Borth eased off the gas, the home team sensed a comeback, and two goals from Dave Thomas suddenly had alarm bells ringing.
Thomas then snatched a point when he scored with a low drive to complete a well-deserved hat-trick.
Elsewhere Wil Denham scored twice as visiting Abermule beat Dyffryn Banw 4-0, with Jack Weaver and Dan Green also scoring.
• Radnor Valley made it eight wins from eight at the top of division one as an own goal and Craig Pigott sealed a 2-1 win over Welshpool, with Will Thomas replying.
Aberaeron won 3-2 at Builth Wells through an own goal, Steffan Gittins and Gareth Severs. Luke Hicks scored two penalties for Builth.
