LLANIDLOES Town missed their chance to move second in the MMP Mid Wales League division one as they were beaten 3-2 by Kerry at Victoria Avenue on Wednesday evening.
Jonathan O’Rourke gave the Lambs an interval lead, before two superb free-kicks from dead ball specialist Luke Mumford secured a fourth league triumph for mid-table Kerry.
The Daffs hit back twice in the second half through Gareth Owen and a looping header from assistant manager Adam Worton, but the defeat left them smarting ahead of their derby showdown with leaders Caersws.
The Bluebirds had moved seven points clear at the top on Tuesday night with a solid 3-0 home win over second-placed rivals Radnor Valley.
Elliot Jones’ curling strike separated the sides at half time, before two more worldies from Phil Jones and Rhydian Davies sentenced Radnor to their second league defeat of the season.
Berriew hammered struggling Tywyn/Bryncrug 7-0, with doubles from Richard Davies, who scored his 100th goal for the club, Rhys Stephens and Joe Haycock, as well as an own goal.
Carno meanwhile won 3-2 away against Llansatffraid Village, courtesy of winning goals from Harry Cottam, Harry Vince-Holt and Andy Evans.
Five goals from Will Thomas earned Welshpool Town an emphatic 8-2 home win over Churchstoke, with Ian Probert, Ian Macleod and Josh Morgan also netting, whilst Jason Mynett and Kieran Mulloch replied.
In division two, Greg Preece scored a brace of goals as Hay St Mary’s beat visitors Aberystwyth University 4-1 at Forest Road, with Matty Tong and Jack Biggs also scoring for the Saints.
Ollie Woods scored a hat-trick as Newbridge eased to a 7-0 win at Presteigne, with further goals from Lyndon Jone, Matty Meredith, Jake Buffton and Dai Thomas, whilst Rhayader edged a 1-0 win over Dyffryn Banw.
