Borth United made an impressive start to their Mid Wales League division two campaign with a solid 6-1 home win against Knighton Town.

Bryn McGilligan Oliver had opened the scorings, before Ryan Davies netted twice to put the home side firmly into the control in blustery conditions.

Mike Straw made it 4-0 to the Crows, and even though the visitors did reply with a wind-assisted own goal before the break, they faced a tricky second half.

Further second half goals from Matthew Lewis and Zak Douglas completed a comprehensive win for Borth, to leave them in good heart for their midweek match at home against Dolgellau.

Newly-promoted Penparcau’s opening match at Dolgellau was abandoned just before half-time, due an injury to Andrew Gittins, with the visitors leading 2-1 through goals by Gittins and new signing Dion Davies. Owain Williams scored for the hosts.

A hat-trick from Harry Holt earned Machynlleth a 3-3 draw at home to Rhayader as they hit back to earn a point in difficult playing conditions at Cae Glas, after Jamie Evans, Taylor Wozencraft and Gareth Hughes netted for the visitors.

Goals from Tom Ellis and Ryan Ellis earned a 2-1 win for Welshpool side Waterloo Rovers over Newbridge, who had scored through Lyndon Jones, and Gerallt Evans netted the winner as Dyffryn Banw edged a 1-0 home win over Churchstoke.

Jake O’Donnell and summer signing Alex Morgan both scored twice as Forden United notched a 5-1 win at Abermule on Friday evening, with Ryan Jenkins also scoring, whilst Jack Jarman got a reply for Mule.
