PENRHYNCOCH are through to the fourth round of the Central Wales Senior Challenge Cup after they won 5-1 at MMP Mid Wales League division two leaders Machynlleth at Cae Glas on Tuesday.

Jonathan Evans led way with a hat-trick as the Roosters set up a home tie against fellow Cymru North side Llanrhaeadr in the last 16 on 1 February.

Tom Evans and Steffan Davies also scored for Penrhyn, who were three goals clear at half-time - although their hosts showed great character to battle to the end.

Machynlleth’s efforts were rewarded in the second half when Richie Evans scored a great free kick pull it back to 4-1, but Penrhyn held firm to secure their place.

On Sunday, Llanrhaeadr fielded a mixture of first and reserve team players, but they raced into a five-goal half-time lead away against Kerry in their third round tie.

The visitors eventually ran out as 6-0 winners, with Marc Griffiths, who led the way with four goals, Matt Evans and Iwan Matthews all finding the back of the net.

Adam Davies scored four goals as Guilsfield eased to a 6-0 win at Caersws on Tuesday, to set up a fourth round tie away against Welshpool side Waterloo Rovers.

Davies took just five minutes to open the scoring, and he then capitalised on a defensive error to slot in the second goal. Adam Jenkins made it 3-0 on 35 minutes with a fine left-footed strike inside the near post to put the Cymru North club in firm control at the interval.

Chris Cathrall curled a shot from 20 yards into the top corner to make it 4-0 on 55 minutes, and Adam Davies completed his hat-trick on the hour when he buried his strike into the top corner.

Adam Davies had the final say when he netted his fourth goal to make it 6-0 on 67 minutes to complete a convincing win for the Cymru North outfit.
