FORMER Aberystywth Town manager Alan Morgan and ex-Aber striker Mark Jones have scooped the Dafabet Welsh Premier League awards for February.

Morgan’s high-flying Mbi Llandudno have put themselves in the hunt for the runners-up position this season, and a place UEFA Europa League, with just six matches remaining.

It is the second time that Morgan - who took Aber to a fourth placed finish during his time at Park Avenue - has collected the Manager of the Month award this season.

Llandudno managed two wins and a draw in their February fixtures, beating Gap Connah’s Quay 3-2 away, drawing 1-1 at Newtown and beating second place Bala Town 3-2 at home.

Those seven points maintained Llandudno’s third place position, and they are now level on 45 points with second-placed Bala, but having played one more match.

Meanwhile former Aberystwyth frontman Mark Jones has been awarded the Dafabet Welsh Premier League Player of the Month after helping Carmarthen to maintain a 100 per cent record during the month.

Jones featured for the Old Gold away wins at Port Talbot Town and Aberystwyth Town - scoring a hat-trick at Park Avenue last weekend, courtesy of a delightful left footed curled effort and two penalties.

The striker has made an impressive impact at Carmarthen since moving in the summer, with 10 league goals in 25 appearances. He spent two and a half seasons at Aberystwyth, scoring 31 goals in 73 games.
