Cefn Druids 1 Bala Town 3
FULL TIME
Bala surged through the gears in the second half to secure a comfortable win against bottom of the table Druids after falling behind to an early goal at The Rock today.
Ollie Shannon toe poked the ball home on the half hour following a goalmouth scramble to cancel out Steffan Edwards’ seventh minute opener.
The Lakesiders rallied well after the early setback and piled on the pressure after the break.
Shannon grabbed his second on 49 minutes with a neat finish inside the box before Will Evans headed wide after meeting a pinpoint free kick delivery by Steve Leslie.
Evans went close again with a volley after brilliant link up play between Antony Kay and Ryan Pryce as the hosts were forced into a constant rearguard action.
And the result was put beyond doubt when Chris Venables rifled home a penalty after Raul Correia was upended in the box.
Bala were reduced to 10 men on 80 minutes when Steve Leslie was sent off for violent conduct, before Danny Gosset came on as a sub for his first competitive appearance in nearly two years, as he replaced Raul Correia.
The Druids fired a couple of speculative long range efforts to try to get back into it but Bala held firm to avoid a potential banana skin and claw two points closer to leaders Connah's Quay Nomads who were held to a goalless draw at Penybont while The New Saints face Haverfordwest County this evening.
