Caernarafon Town 2 Bala Town 0

HALF TIME

With everything done and dusted in terms of league positions it’s pride at stake as Bala take on the Cofis in the Gwynedd derby at The Oval tonight.

But Bala find themselves two goals behind after two strikes by youngster Max Cleworth.

The hosts struck first through 18-year-old Cleworth who headed in a corner won after Michael Hayes’ shot was deflected wide.

Another chance for the hosts followed when Paulo Mendes fired wildly over the bar from the edge of the area.

Having already secured automatic European qualification with the 4-1 defeat of Barry Town on Saturday, Colin Caton made just the one change to the starting 11 with Kieran Smith coming into the team and Shaun Kelly also making the bench.

Bala’s first real opening came on 19 minutes when Chris Venables, who fired in his 200th Cymru Premier goal on Saturday, headed Henry Jones’ free kick wide.

Caernarfon had a shout for a penalty waved away when Anthony Stephens seemed to send a player tumbling before Mendes had another pop at goal which hit the outside of the net.

Venables went close with a header as the half ran into stoppage time but the Lakesiders found themselves further behind when Cleworth bagged his second of the game.
