BALA Town’s excellent run of form continued at Llandudno as they moved up to third position in the Dafabet Welsh Premier League with their fourth straight win last weekend.

A deflected Ryan Wade strike beat keeper Dave Roberts for the opening goal after just nine minutes, but the Seasiders got back on level terms with a Mike Williams header midway through the first half.

The Lakesiders had to wait until 75 minutes to restore their lead, when Chris Venables converted from Lee Hunt’s headed flick-on, and five minutes later Anthony Stephens’ shot was deflected into his net by Danny Shaw for a 3-1 win.

Bala had had quite a lot of the ball in the opening 10 minutes, and when Wade cut in from the right wing, his shot was deflected away from Roberts into the net.

The Lakesiders’ early pressure continued, and a free-kick from 25 yards was curled over by Ryan Valentine - but Llandudno stepped up and in the 23rd minute they earned a very deserved equaliser.

A free kick was whipped in to the box from the left by Marc Williams, and Mike Williams, unmarked at the back post, rose above everyone else to head home.

Llandudno then almost took the lead on 29 minutes, when John Owen was played through in the box, but he fired just over.

In a spell of 10 minutes, Gareth Evans and Nathan Peate hobbled off for the hosts, as did Ryan Wade and Kieran Smith for the Lakesiders before the interval.

Young Sean McCaffery, on for the injured Evans, almost scored with his very first touch, but his shot went over the bar.

Marc Williams also had an effort saved, and Lewis Buckley’s rebound was cleared off the line, before Danny Shaw saw his effort tipped over from the corner kick.

The hosts also started well in the second half, and James Joyce had a chance blocked, and a Buckley header was cleared, but at the other end Mark Connolly floated a ball over from 25 yards.

Chris Venables fired over for Bala, but as the game opened up McCaffery saw his volley fall just inches wide of the post.

With a quarter of an hour to go, Bala snatched the lead when a cross from Ian Sheridan found Lee Hunt, who flicked the ball to his right into the path of Venables, who rocketed the ball in from six yards.

Two minutes later Buckley appealed for a penalty when he went down inside the area, but the referee was unimpressed.

Bala were now playing with confidence, and after some great play by Stephens, Venables laid off the ball for Thompson on the edge of the area, but he curled over.

With 10 minutes left, Bala extended their lead when Stephens’ strike took a deflection, this time from Shaw, to make it 3-1.

Lee Owens made his first appearance since the start of September, after a lengthy spell on the sidelines, and he delivered a cracking ball to Hunt who went one-on-one in the air with Roberts, but wasn’t able to capitalise on the chance.

At other end, Marc Williams went down in the area, but again no penalty was awarded, on what was to be Bala’s day.
