BALA Town have strengthened their squad ahead of the new JD Welsh Premier League campaign with the addition of two players with plenty of experience.
Central defender Jonny Spittle and former Football League midfielder Lee Molyneux have joined the Lakesiders ahead of their pre-season run-out away against Llanrhaeadr ym Mochnant this Saturday.
Spittle was released by Connah’s Quay following the end of last season and was quickly snapped by the Lakesiders.
His early career started at Wigan Athletic, Blackburn Rovers and Rochdale before a switch to the Welsh Premier League. The 24 year-old has had spells at Airbus, Llandudno and Aberystwyth prior to a move to the Nomads in 2018, making 16 starts for the Deeside outfit.
Meanwhile left-footed midfielder Molyneux hails from Merseyside, and has got numerous caps for England at Under-16s, 17s and 18s level to his name. Starting his career at Everton, he gained Football League experience with Southampton, Plymouth Argyle, Accrington Stanley, Crewe, Rochdale, Tranmere Rovers, with more recent appearances for Morecambe, Guiseley and Barrow.
His stand-out season was during the 2008/09 campaign when he notched nine goals in 31 appearances to help Accrington avoid relegation from League Two. His spell in non-league football saw him help Chorley reach the end-of-season National League North play-offs.
Meanwhile the club has also revealed that Danny Gosset has extended his stay at Maes Tegid and committed for the 2019/20 season. He had made 18 (+9) appearances for the Lakesiders, and had a loan spell at Cefn Druids last season.
Evan Horwood is another player to have agreed new terms last week. Starting his third season with the Lakesiders, Horwood started 11 (+18) matches in all competitions in 2018/19.
