LLANIDLOES Town are top of the tree this Christmas in the MMP Mid Wales League division one, but they had to settle for a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw at a very blustery Aberaeron last weekend.
An equaliser from Connor Bird earned the Daffs a deserved point, to move them 10 points clear of second-placed Builth Wells, who saw their scheduled fixture against Welshpool Town postponed.
Man of the match Mattie Davies had opened the scoring for the Seasiders, who put in a tremendous shift to lead at the half-time interval, before Bird finally got the Daffs equaliser in the second period.
High-flying Bow Street are up to third position in the division one table after they notched a 2-1 win at Four Crosses, and the Magpies will look to maintain the pressure on the top two teams in 2020.
Tom Wyn Roberts scored both their goals at Foxen Manor, to leapfrog above Welshpool Town and Llandrindod Wells, whilst Ben Simms got on the scoresheet for the hosts.
Tywyn/Bryncrug came close to taking all three points in very windy conditions against Kerry, after Jack Wilkes had provided the assist for Aled Jones to open the scoring for the Meirionnydd outft.
The hosts, who have moved to sign keeper Janis Lauskinieks, battled on with a brilliant effort in the middle of the park from youngster Ben Williams, only to be denied late on by the battling visitors.
Matt Mumford slotted home a cross by winger Luke Mumford to earn the Lambs a point, as they extended their unbeaten run since the first week in November.
Carno’s home match against Llansantffraid was another casualty of the weather, as was Llandrindod against Montgomery, and Radnor Valley against Berriew.
• The draw for the third round of the Central Wales Senior Challenge Cup has taken place, with Machynlleth set to play hosts to Cymru North side Penrhyncoch.
Bow Street will have home advantage against Montgomery Town, whilst Aberaron will travel to take on Bishops Castle, and Penparcau will play hosts to Hay St Marys.From the Cambrian Tyres aberystwyth and District League, Llanilar will host Tregaron Turfs, and Padarn United entertain Rhayader Town.
