BOW STREET Reserves registered their first win of the season with a solid 4-1 win over Presteigne Reserves, to secure their progress in the Emrys Morgan Cup.
It was a welcome boost for the battling Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth and District League side after seven successive defeats in division one this season.
Shaun Jones scored twice against the Mid Wales (South) League side, with Will Mills and Rhys Evans also netting. Tom Lewis scored for Presteigne, who are now six games without a win.
Holders Newcastle Emlyn will fly the flag for the Costcutter Ceredigion League after they triumphed 3-1 win away at Llandrindod Wells Reserves.
With a bare 11 and then going down to 10 men at 1-1 for most of the second half, the Reds showed great character to go on and win this encounter.
With manager Owain Thomas playing in goal, the visitors had midfielder Ty Argo sent off for a second bookable offence, but they came through to win.
Daniel Jones converted a Cai Evans cross for the visitors during the first half, and they booked their passage with two second half strikes by Robbie Jenkins, who netted from a Corey Davies pass and then came out on top in a one-to-one with the keeper.
Montgomeryshire Amateur League side Llanymynech meanwhile registered a 3-2 win against St Harmon.
Cal Whyte gave the hosts the lead, which was extended by a Jack Watkin header, and Sam Roberts sealed the win with their third goal. Ceri Powell and Adam Martin netted the replies.
Forden’s Tom Anderson scored a hat-trick as they made progress with a 3-1 win at Knighton Reserves, whilst Caersws Reserves pulled out of the competition, handing scheduled opponents Llanfair Reserves a walkover.
Meanwhile, in the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth League, Penrhyncoch Reserves were emphatic 11-2 winners over Aberystwyth University Reserves.
Cledan Davies led the way with four goals, Sion James and Stephen Hughes both scored twice, and Serge Holmes, Bruce Wright and Jack Barron also found the net.
With the majority of Costcutter Ceredigion League sides being involved in Cup action, just one match went ahead in division one, with Kieran Boyes scoring a hat-trick as Felinfach beat Bargod Rangers 3-2.
In division two, a Kyle Chillery goal earned unbeaten Maesglas a 1-1 draw with Llandysul Reserves, who picked up a pleasing point through Dave Clark’s penalty. St Dogmaels Reserves won 2-0 at Newcastle Emlyn Reserves, with goals from Luke Jones and Tom Rees.
Crannog Reserves made it four wins from four matches in division three as goals from Gruff Thomas and Dan Robinson sealed a 2-0 home win over Llanboidy Reserves.Lampeter Town Reserves emerged as 6-3 winners at home against Felinfach Reserves, with Rhys Davies and Bryn Jones scoring twice, along with singles by Dan Morgan and Luke Hunter.Leon Lane, Ifan Davies and Kevin Hazelgrave netted for Felinfach.
