PADARN United, with a makeshift side, moved up to fourth position in the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth and District League division one as they hit back from being two goals down to register a 3-2 win over Borth Reserves.
Borth had started brightly in the tricky conditions, with Sam Mason scoring twice to earn his side a 2-0 lead after half an hour, before Padarn responded.
The depleted hosts halved the deficit when they were awarded a penalty for handball, and Rich Williams converted.
They continued to attack with purpose, and Matthews Higgs then scored a crucial equaliser before the interval.
Padarn dominated the second half, but the score remained 2-2 until Jason Davies finally broke the offside trap to score a winning goal from close range.
Third-placed Bow Street Reserves meanwhile closed the gap on frontrunners Bont and Tregaron Turfs to four points, courtesy an emphatic 8-1 away win against Machynlleth Reserves.
Tom Evans led the rout with five goals for the Magpies, whilst Osian Rees-Jones weighed in with a brace and James Clarke also got on the scoresheet.
Talybont shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Aberystwyth University Reserves in difficult windy conditions.
The students had two goals correctly disallowed for offside, but went ahead with 10 minutes remaining through in-form Gytis Pivnickas - but Talybont kept focus and equalised immediately, with a fine header from Ben Byrne.
In division two, Padarn Reserves notched their first league win with a solid 3-0 away win against Aberdyfi.
After an even opening half an hour, it was Padarn who broke the deadlock from a corner by Carl Walley, which went straight into the home side’s net.
In the second half a lovely solo goal from Carl Walley made it 2-0, and Padarn’s Nathan Jackson hit the post with an effort from an effort outside the box.
When Graham Thomas was fouled in the box, he stepped up to score the penalty to secure a deserved three points.
Llanon moved three points clear at the top of division two with 6-1 win at Llanilar Reserves, where Robin Lovatt bagged a hat-trick of headers from corners. The division one leaders were pushed hard by a spirited Tywyn outfit as two goals from Ben Holt and one from Tim Holt took the visiting side to extra-time.
The Ceredigion side started as the better side, but they fell behind - before a Lee Jones free kick from distance found the top corner to ensure parity at half time.
The second half didn’t start well at all for the visitors as two defensive mistakes from centre backs Sion Jones and Owen Evans saw the home side take a commanding 3-1 lead - and the second division side was looking good for their lead.
Bont’s Ben Lewis slotted home to halve the deficit, and when the visiors were awarded a hotly disputed penalty, Andrew Gilbert kept his cool to power home from 12 yards, to make it 3-3 with 10 minutes remaining.
The tie went in to extra time, with both teams tiring, but with five minutes of the first half left, Robin Melkeck pounced on a loose ball to put Bont 4-3 up, after Tristan Jenkins’ cross had been dropped by the goalkeeper.
The game became increasingly stretched, and both teams had chances, but Bont held on to go through to the next round, after being pushed all the way.
Ffostrasol are also through to the second round after they netted a 2-1 win away at Costcutter division one rivals Aberaeron Reserves.Cambrian Tyres League Cup
PENPARCAU beat division one side Llanilar 3-0 in the Cambrian Tyres League Cup to secure a place in the second round of this season's competition.With four players missing, and some new signings, Penparcau were eager to play after missing three weeks due to the weather.Martin Dowes lofted a lovely free kick into the area and as Gareth Lewis attacked he was fouled from behind, and up stepped Dylan Bailey to send the keeper the wrong way.
In the second half new signing Chris Wylde saw two in-swinging corners headed off the line, but he then he found Lee Morgan, who thundered his shot into the top corner.
From the restart Penparcau retrieved the ball and were given a free kick some 30 yards out, and Chris Wylde found the roof of the net to completed the scoring.
