Tywyn Reserves quit District League
TYWYN/BRYNCRUG Reserves have pulled out of the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth and District League just a month into the season.
The league secretary was informed last week that the club had decided to withdraw from division one with immediate effect due to the unavailability of players.
The team had already played four league matches this season, winning two, drawing one and losing one.
“It is with great sadness that we inform you that Tywyn/Bryncrug FC Reserves will withdraw from the Cambrian Tyres League with immediate effect,” confirmed a club statement.
“As you are aware, we have struggled to put out a team this season, and this has been compounded by the very small pool of players at the club, the numbers of which we have failed to significantly increase during the first weeks of the season.
“It is with heavy heart that we are having to withdraw, we feel it is better to do so now than later in the season.
“The club wishes to convey our sincere apologies to the teams in the league which this withdrawal affects and to the committee of the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth District League.”
The Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth League division one has been reduced to 10 teams, with seven teams making up division two.
• Two teams have also withdrawn from the MMP Mid Wales League in recent weeks, with Knighton Two pulling out of division one, and Brecon Corries withdrawing from division two.
A statement from Corries said: “We can only apologise for this drastic action, the vast majority of the club are deeply disappointed in the actions of the various players, who have only aided this demise from third place last season, to barely finding a team to play each week.”
• SDUC also pulled out of the Costcutter Ceredigion League this week, because of a shortage of players.
