Penrhyncoch moved a step closer to Huws Gray Cymru Alliance survival after edging out of the relegation zone with a crucial 3-1 win away to Bangor City.
Victory lifted the Roosters above Denbigh Town on goal difference with two games remaining, the first of which is the big relegation battle with Holywell Town at Cae Baker this Saturday.
It’s potentially the biggest game of the season as Holywell arrive just one point below Penrhyn with a game in hand, after pulling off a 3-1 success at fellow strugglers Denbigh in midweek.
"We expected we'd know a lot more by the end of the week, because those results could have a big bearing on who goes down," said manager Gari Lewis."Three weeks ago it looked like we were done and dusted, but we’re still in there fighting, which is a big credit to the boys."
Gari Lewis’ Roosters, however, will be in fine fettle after their superb victory at Bangor, that made it seven points from their last three games.
Jonathan Evans fired the first on 22 minutes, before Josh Shaw doubled the lead 12 minutes later after the hosts had failed to clear.
A youthful City finished the half with 10 men after experienced defender Michael Johnston was red-carded for a poor tackle, but battled hard in the second half to salvage the game.
Evans got his second on 58 minutes to give the Roosters some breathing space, but they were also down to 10 men four minutes later when Liam Lewis was dismissed for an off-the-ball incident.
Robbie Parry pulled one pack from the penalty spot after a handball in the box on 67 minutes, but the visitors held firm to return with a vital three points in their relegation battle.
BUCKLEY TOWN 1 PENRHYNCOCH 1
Penrhyncoch had showed their never-say-die attitude after salvaging a vital point at Buckley Town to keep alive their chances of Huws Gray Alliance survival.
After trailing to Adam Eden’s second half strike, the Roosters were not to be denied as Steff Davies pounced five minutes from time to claim what could prove a precious 1-1 draw at the Globe.
"To beat Gresford and then draw at Buckley, we’ve got to be happy with that, and to score so late on against Buckley will give us a boost," said manager Gari Lewis.
"Again we looked very solid, and I had to make some difficult selection decisions. I felt we were the better side in the first half, but it was more even in the second, although they scored against the run of play.
"It knocked us back, but we showed great guts to get an equaliser and could have won it at the end."
Buoyed by their tremendous 3-1 victory over Gresford Athletic the week before, the Roosters made the trip to Buckley in good fettle.
They had the better of the first half, but failed to turn promising positions into clear chances despite getting several balls into the box.
The visitors survived a scare after the break as a strike from Tom Gunson rattled the top corner of the woodwork
But Buckley went ahead 20 minutes from time when Gunson and Aaron Williams linked up down the right before finding Eden who produced a neat finish to break the deadlock.
After going behind, Penrhyn picked themselves up and got their reward five minutes form time when Davies smashed home the loose ball following a ricochet in the goalmouth.
They came agonisingly close to winning it moments later when the industrious Antonio Corbisiero headed against the bar.
