A GOAL shortly after the half-hour mark gave Bangor City the three points in a low-key 1-0 derby win over Porthmadog in the JD Cymru North at the Traeth.

One estimate of the total number of visiting supporters was 30 - which is a sign of the times currently at Nantporth - and the big Italian representation in the visiting side meant the identity and banter associated with this derby was missing.

A stiff breeze also had a big influence on the game, as Bangor had the better of the first half, before Port fought back after the break, doing everything but score.

The early stages were relatively quiet, before Bangor posed their first real threat in the 19th minute, when Emmanuel Agyemang was put through on goal down the left, forcing keeper Paul Pritchard into a decent save at his near post.

For the remainder of the half, the visitors were on top and Agyemang was their danger man, drawing another good save from Pritchard as he burst through.

The home side were forced to defend, with Josh Banks doing a great job, having been switched to the central defence.

The only threat Port could muster at this stage was a free kick from Jay Gibbs, which was struck low and hard, but was ultimately deflected out for a corner.

It was little surprise when Bangor went ahead on 33 minutes, though it was a rather scruffy goal . A cross came in from the left, was not well defended, and when the ball was put back into the box Agyemang was there to net from close range.

Sion Eifion introduced Mel McGinness and Rhys Alun for the second half and both players showed well immediately.

Alun burst down the left, cut inside and unleashed a cracker which went inches over, but as Port pushed forward, Bangor were a danger on the counter-attack.

When the ball was given away in midfield, Azizou Zoumbare burst through on goal, forcing Pritchard into a good save.

A minute later Fransesco Serafino thundered a powerful shot against the bar, but at the other end substitute Rhys Alun struck an angled shot narrowly over.

Ilan ap Gareth forced an acrobatic save from Gabriele Brino to tip his testing shot over the bar, and the same player also hit the side netting, as well as crossing for Rhys Alun to fire narrowly over the bar.

Another sub, Sion Parry, held the ball up well to set up Rhys Alun for an other close effort, but an equaliser refused to come, leaving Port still without a point.
