PORTHMADOG manager Craig Papirnyk has confirmed that the Cymru Alliance club has this week secured the signing of frontrunner Jamie McDaid.
The striker will need little introduction to the Traeth club, having previously played for Porth between 2010 and 2012, making 33(+17) appearances and scoring 10 goals.
“Jamie is a fantastic addition to our squad and he will bring something different to what we already have," said Papirnyk
"Since his announcement about leaving Caernarfon a few weeks ago, he has by no means been short of invitations to join some very good clubs this past month, so I am delighted that Jamie decided that Porth was the place he wanted to be.
“Jamie is a player of the very highest quality in this league and his goal scoring record is certainly proof of this. I am really looking forward to working with him until the end of the season and beyond."
Papirnyk added: “He will add a real threat in our already dangerous forward line, and with his goal scoring record, I am sure he will benefit us massively on the field.
“Jamie trained with us this past week and fitted straight in amongst the lads.
"He keeps himself in great shape, and he will come straight into Saturday’s squad to face Conwy."
Porthmadog will be hoping to complete the double over Conwy on Satuday, having beat them by the odd goal in mid-November.
Their team are now managed by Jason Aldcroft, who took over the reins from Aden Shannon.
Ahead of Saturday’s clash he has brought in three new players, Jordan Haskell from Southport, keeper Jack Lynch formerly with Buckley and Ross Howcroft-Jones, who has re-joined from Llandudno.
Despite last Saturday’s narrow defeat at leaders Caernarfon, Papirnyk can take heart from another good performance as they look to consolidate a position in the top half of the table.
McDaid’s arrival comes at a good time as Porth will be without the unavailable Gruff John Williams and Josh Davies, who has been carrying an ankle ligament injury the last few weeks.
