PORTHMADOG produced a spirited performance against Airbus Broughton, but the Huws Gray Cymru Alliance leaders kept their 100 per cent record intact.

Dale Davies netted his first Porthmadog goal to level the scores, after Asa Hamilton had given the visitors a first half leadm - but James Hooper’s well taken 80th winner ultimately settled the result.

"It’s always disappointing to lose," said Porthmadog boss Craig Papirnyk."I thought the lads played some of the best football I’ve seen from them, and their performance deserved more than the result they got.

"Full credit to Airbus, they are a strong and experienced side who will take some stopping, but we'll move on.”

Porthmadog had lost Ceri James to injury during the pre-match warm-up, with Gruff John moving over to central defence and Dan Dascalu coming in at right back.

Ryan Edwards fired an early warning over the bar from 20 yards for Airbus, but Dan Dascalu, having a fine game at right back, crossed to the back post but Sion Edwards’ header went back across goal.

Play remained even with neither side able to get the upper hand. From Josh Banks’ low cross to the near post, Dale Davies failed to get a touch, and Jay Gibbs twice struck without hitting the target.

Then, with 36 minutes on the clock, Airbus’ Joe Palmer tried one from distance which keeper Paul Pritchard failed to hold and former Port striker Asa Hamilton was on the spot to turn in the re-bound.

Port came close to an equaliser early in the second half when Josh Banks cut inside and unleashed an angled shot which went inches over the bar, and just before the hour Dale Davies levelled the scores.

From Jay Gibbs’ corner, Gruff John’s header was scrambled off the line, but only as far as Dale Davies who drilled a shot past keeper Roberts at the near post.

The all important winning goal came with 10 minutes remaining when Airbus sub James Hooper broke forward to the edge of the Port box, and with a clear sight of the goal, he fired a quality shot wide of Pritchard into the corner of the net.

Port pushed for an equaliser and Iddon Price rose well to meet Tomos Emlyn’s corner, but his header went narrowly over, and in added time Shaun Cavanagh broke clear down the right, but his cross was well cut out by keeper Dave Roberts as Airbus held on for the three points.
