LLANYSTUMDWY wrote an entry in the Gwynedd League’s record books, as they amassed an emphatic 11-1 tally against basement whipping boys Llanllyfni.

Sion Huws had opened the scoring for the visitors after six minutes, but Aled Jones’ rampant hosts found the opposition target five times before the interval.

The prolific Sion Parry raised his tally to 27 goals for the campaign with a double hat-trick - and remarkably five of them came this time from penalties.

Parry converted from the spot on 18, 38, 53, 85 and 89 minutes, and he also scored in open play on 82 minutes.

Referee Jez Shea also whistled for another home penalty on 62 minutes, and that award was swept into the net by Iwan Richards.

Llanystumdwy’s other goals in open play came from Rhys Hughes on 24 minutes, Bradley Williams on 31, Carwyn Roberts on 45 and Joe Soar on 55, as still pointless Llanllyfni saw their goals against tally increase to 70 for the season.

Meanwhile Nefyn United were held to a 2-2 draw by Waunfawr at Cae’r Delyn, after they had taken a two goal lead in half an hour.

Danny Roberts netted twice, on 5 and 26 minutes, but Tomos Owen found the home net from a penalty just before half-time, and a crucial second reply goal was scored by Elis Povey three minutes from the end.

Leaders Bro Goronwy notched their ninth win in 11 appearances with a 3-1 win against Beaumaris, courtesy of their goals by Andy Williams on 21 minutes, Huw Pritchard’s own-goal on 66 and the third goal by Rich Williams on 90.

Beaumaris had drawn level for a while, with Dean Redmond’s strike two minutes into the second half.

Bontnewydd moved up to second place in the title race with a 4-1 win at Llangoed, as Gareth Edwards netted twice in the first half, after 21 and 36 minutes, and Aled Steele did likewise in the second spell on 79 and 80.

Talysarn Celts’ scheduled match against Holyhead Town was postponed, because the pitch was waterlogged, and the Menai Bridge Tigers versus Gwalchmai match had the same fate, after their grounds were deemed unplayable.
