PWLLHELI were dumped out of the Mawddach Cup with a 5-1 home defeat to Llanberis as they succumbed to their third consecutive defeat, all in knockouts.
Llanberis had dismissed their opponents in the Cookson Cup a week earlier, and took charge through Jonathan Cyster on 40 minutes and Rhys Parry on 45.
Tomos Jones replied at the start of the second half, but an own goal on 85 minutes, Dylan Hughes on 90 and another by Guto Llewelyn in added time gave the visitors a somewhat flattering scoreline.
Holders Penrhyndeudraeth bowed out with a 3-2 defeat to last season’s runners-up, Glantraeth in the first round re-match.
Glantraeth’s Corrig McGonigle tucked away a penalty on 32 minutes, and in two frantic minutes just ahead of half-time Meilir Williams struck twice for the home side, on 43 and 44 minutes, for a 2-1 lead.
McGonigle, however hit back immediately for Glantraeth to send the teams in at half-time level at 2-2, and Andy Barker scored their winning goal on 71 minutes.
Blaenau Ffestinog Amateurs were beaten 3-1 at Llanrwst United, where goals by Leighton Griffiths 2 and 25 minutes and Jack Parry on 23 set up the home team.
The Amateurs battled back well and scored with what turned out to be a consolation by Cai Hughes on 35 minutes.
Trearddur Bay United made progress with a 3-0 win at Meliden, with their goals coming the closing quarter of an hour.
Ryan Lees made the breakthrough with 13 minutes left, and Jordan Murphy on 90 and Lees in injury time sealed the win.
Llandudno Junction emerged victorious as they beat Mynydd Llandygai 6-3, with three of their players scoring doubles.
Lee Ellis found the target after 44 and 51 minutes, Brian Roberts netted on 49 and 63 and Merrick Knight on 56 and 72.
Mynydd had been 2-0 up through Liam Willingham on 12 minutes and Ian Owen on 23, but all they managed later was Aled Roberts’s extra with 82 minutes gone.
Llanrug United beat Felinheli 4-0, with two goals in each half, from Carl Griffiths on 6 minutes and Luke Phillips on 29 minutes, followed by Jonathan Sadler on 71 and an own-goal right on 90 minutes.
Prestatyn Sports benefited from a hattrick by Paul Watts as they beat St Asaph City 5-3. Watts netted on 23 minutes, 45 from a penalty and 47, after James Harper’s opener on six minutes, and then Dominic Donnelly was also spot-on after 61.
St Asaph kept in contention with their netted contributions from Jake Walker on 40 and 78 minutes and an own-goal on 81.
Amlwch Town won an Anglesey derby at Pentraeth 5-2, with Luke McGiven finding the net on 23 and 80 minutes, Sam Carter on 36 and Chris Byast on 63 and 65,
Llangefni Town beat Llanfairpwll 4-0, as Huw Kirkham scored on 14 minutes, Danny Thomas on 22, Sion Pritchard on 54 and Corey Sinnott on 87 minutes.
Llanllyfni made progress as 5-3 winners at Cemaes Bay, with goals by Iwan Morris on 22, 30 and 51 minutes, Shaun Hughes on 37 and a Neil Thomas penalty on 77.
Gaerwen won 4-2 at Glan Conwy, with goals by Dylan Williams after 15 minutes, Gethin Davies on 24 and 53 and Steve Lewis on 44, whilst Abergele Town won 2-1 at Llanerchymedd, where Ashley Wood scored on 17 and Tom Croft on 29.
Penmaenmawr settled for 1-0 at Mochdre Sports, thanks to Daniel Price finding the back of the net on 45.
