PWLLHELI, who will play in the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance division two next season following relegation, will play a pre-season friendly against Bangor City on Monday, 9 July.
The fixture, which kicks off at 7.15pm, is in memory of Tommy G Jones, the successful former player manager of Pwllheli and Bangor City in the 1950s and 60s.
Tommy led both sides to great heights, and most famously he plotted the near miraculous encounters with Napoli in the 1962/63 European Cup Winners Cup, taking the Italians to a replay at Highbury.
Mayor Eric Roberts will officially open the newly-installed seating in the club stand at 6.30pm, and there will be special guests and former players in attendance.
John Cowell and Ifor Roberts will be on hand to hand over the TG Jones Trophy to the winners, and the “Prince of Centre Halves” book will be for sale on the night.
Pwllheli’s pre-season schedule continues on 14 July at home to Machynlleth, followed by Penrhyncoch away on 21 July; Bow Street at home on 28 July and Penrhyndeudraeth at home on 1 August.
The management team have been busy behind the scenes over the last few weeks securing players for the upcoming season.
Manager Ben Ogilvy said: “We are delighted to have the majority of last season’s squad signed up for the new campaign, as well as couple of new additions.
“After the disastrous season last year, we wanted players who would be up for the challenge of trying to go straight back up, and players that are willing to take our changes on board.
“We are still working hard to add some extra quality to the squad for next season.
“We are also working hard off the pitch as we look to do everything we can to gain promotion back to division one at the first attempt. We have a great pre-season schedule ahead of us, and training has started well, so we are really looking forward to the next few weeks at the club.”
Training continues every Tuesday and Thursday and new players are welcome.
The players signed up already include Gethin Roberts, Mark Jones, Lukas Baltovic, Ifan Gwilym, Lee Fletcher, Tom Mahoney, Dafydd Gwyn Jones, Jamie Banks, Jason Banks, Marcus Banks, Jamie Underwood, Morgan Murray, Steffan Toplis, Cai Dwyryd and Daniel Pritchard.
The Club says it is also on the lookout for volunteers to help work on the pitch.
