PWLLHELI’s 2-0 home defeat to lower mid-table Greenfield was nowhere near as bad as the 12-1 defeat at the Deesiders’ Alpha Park home in December, but goals late in each half by Sam Jones on 37 and on 88 minutes left them empty-handed.

Jamie Underwood, Mark Jones and Josh Lloyd went close for Pwllheli, and in the closing quarter Greenfield were reduced to 10 men through the red card dismissal of Leon Hughes - but the hosts failed to capitalise on their numerical advantage.

Barmouth and Dyffryn United had a significant input into the division one title race as they frustrated second-from-top Llangefni Town in a goalless draw.

For the hosts, Mike Irvine and Steve Bratt stood out and keeper Tyler French was credited with several decent saves, and the team did well considering the absence of key players such as Paul Lewis, Ieuan Brookes and George Sutherns.

Gethin Evans dragged a shot off-target, but their pressure was largely contained on the fringes of the Cefni penalty box.

Penrhyndeudraeth were consigned to their eighth blank Saturday since just before Christmas, as their fixture against Llanrwst United was postponed because of waterlogged pitch. Also off on Saturday was St Asaph City versus Llanberis.

Meanwhile title front-runners Conwy Borough lost to lowly Nantlle Vale 2-1, for only their third defeat in 22 games.

The Penygroes hosts took the lead through Aaron Griffiths on 15 minutes and then doubled that advantage with Aaron Thomas’s goal on 75. It was all over virtually for Conwy when Corrig McGonigle conjured up a token reply just two minutes from the final whistle.

Llanrug United also caught the eye with a 5-3 entertaining win over Mynydd Llandygai, the home goals coming from Matthew Phillips on 13 minutes, Alan Mark Owen on 24 and 40, Aaron Hughes on 42 and Llion Wyn Jones on 58.

Mynydd produced replies from Liam Willingham on 31 and 63 minutes and Matthew Smith on 80 from a penalty.

Meanwhile Llandudno Albion were 4-2 away winners over Llandyrnog United, thanks to winning strikes from Connor Davies on 37 and 78 minutes, Daniel Evans on 41 and Dave Maddox on 82 minutes, with Mark Roberts netting a brace for the hosts after two and 89 minutes.
