ROSS Stephens - one of six players to have left Aberystwyth Town this summer - has re-signed for the Robins after a seven year absence from Latham Park.
The midfielder becomes the Robins’ second signing of the summer, after Craig Williams also agreed a deal after leaving Aberystwyth last month.
"Ross is a good player, we worked together at Prestatyn Town, won the Welsh Cup and played in Europe," said Newtown manager Chris Hughes.
"He is of good quality, a good local lad, and hopefully he can come and win things. Technically he is a good player, and on a 3G pitch that will help.
"He has great control, is comfortable with the ball, and possesses a good delivery."
Hughes added: "That is two signings now, in an area that we wanted to strengthen.
"We haven’t really had an out and out winger recently, so with Craig Williams joining that will help.
"We have had to push the likes of Neil Mitchell out there, who has done well, but now we have Craig to fill that gap.
"It’s also nice to get the signings in early, and that is testament to both Craig and Ross who wanted to come to the football club."
Several players have left Aberystwyth Town as the new management duo of Matthew Bishop and Wayne Jones look to build a new-look squad for next season.
Goalkeeper Mike Lewis, centre backs Lee Surman and skipper Stuart Jones, and striker Rhys Griffiths have all exited Park Avenue.
Lewis, Jones and Williams had been at the club for four seasons, each making over 100 Welsh Premier appearances for the Seasiders, and playing in the 2014 Welsh Cup Final and Europa League ties.
Stephens had rejoined the Seasiders for a second period in January 2015 and helped the Club to a fourth place finish, whilst Surman joined the club last June along with Griffiths from Port Talbot Town.
Griffiths, who netted seven goals in 17 starts last season, has taken the position of manager at Welsh League club Penybont.
The Seasiders are boosted, however, by news that Welsh Premier Golden Boot Chris Venables and influential midfielder Luke Sherbon have extended their contracts at Park Avenue.
The club has reported that the remainder of the playing squad have been offered new deals, and it is working hard to bring together a fresh squad for the new campaign.
