BALA Town will travel to San Marino in the first qualifying round of the Uefa Europa League, following the draw in Geneva this week.

The Lakesiders will take on Tre Fiori over two legs, with the San Marino club set to host the first leg at their Stadio di Fiorentino ground on Thursday, 28 June.

The return leg, which will be played in Rhyl, will be played on Thursday, 5 July."We've got a few people within the club that are scouring the internet to try and find out a bit more information about them," said Bala manager Colin Caton."We'll contact the Welsh FA and they will give us a run down on them, so we'll wait for that information, have a look at a lot of clips and videos, and plan the best we can. They've done well in their own domestic league, and are in Europe so obviously they're good."Tre Fiori qualified for their end of season play-offs in the Campionato Sammarinese di Calcio, after finishing third in Group B, and then third in the play-offs. Bala, who finished fourth in the Welsh Premier last season, had qualified automatically by virtue of third-placed Connah’s Quay winning the Welsh Cup final.

Tre Fiori last played in Europe in the 2011-12 season, losing out 5-1 on aggregate in the first qualifying round of the Champions League against Valletta, of Malta.

They have previously lost at the first hurdle against Sant Julia, of Andorra in 2010, and Rudar Pljevlja, from Montenegro in 2011.

A semi-professional football club based in Fiorentino, San Marino, the club has won seven national titles and six national cup titles, and they currently play in Group B of the Campionato Sammarinese di Calcio.

It is Bala’s fifth venture into Europe after losing to 3-2 on aggregate to Levadia Tallinn of Estonia in 2013; 4-3 to Differdange of Luxembourg in 2015; 4-0 to AIK of Sweden 2016; and 5-1 to Vaduz of Switzerland 2017.If Bala Town can progress past Tre Fiori they will face NK Rudar Velenje of Slovenia, with the winners then facing Fotbal Club FCSB (Steaua Bucure?ti) from Romania.Meanwhile Welsh Premier play-off winners Cefn Druids have a stiff tie against Lithuanians FC Trakai, who were promoted to their country’s A League in 2014.

Previously in Europe, Trakai have progressed to the second qualifying round twice, beating HB Torshavn (Faroe Islands) and Nomme Kalju (Estonia), while also reaching the third stage last season with victories over St Johnstone (Scotland) and Norrkoping (Sweden).

Trakai are third in the Lithuanian A Lyga, which runs throughout the summer, and among the current squad is former Everton forward Diniyar Bilyaletdinov. The winners of the tie will meet FC Irtysh Pavlodar of Kazakhstan in the next stage.Welsh Cup winners Connah’s Quay Nomads face a trip to Belarus in the first qualyfing round of the Europea League to face Shakhtyor Soligorsk.Shakhtyor have competed in Europe since 2001 and enjoyed their best season in 2014/15 when they defeated Derry City 5-1, Zuite Waregem (Belgium) before losing to PSV Eindhoven in the play-off round. They reached the second qualifying round again in the following two seasons but lost at the first stage to Lithuanian outfit Suduva last season.Welsh Premier champions The New Saints will enter the Champions League at the first qualifying round.Europa League preliminary round: Europa (Gibraltar) v Prishtina (Kosovo); Sant Julià (Andorra) v Gzira (Malta); Engordany (Andorra) v Folgore (San Marino); B36 Tórshavn (Faroe Islands) v St Joseph’s (Gibraltar); Birkirkara (Malta) v KÍ Klaksvík (Faroe Islands); Tre Fiori (San Marino) v Bala Town (Wales); and Cefn Druids (Wales) v Trakai (Lithuania).
