BARMOUTH and Dyffryn United rediscovered winning ways in the Welsh Alliance after the frustrations of six matches for only one draw and five defeats, by outperforming recent champions Trearddur Bay United 3-1.

Carl Ryan’s men took time to click, having seen right-winger Andrew Papirnyk sustain a serious leg injury in the early minutes, to be replaced by the manager.

Craig Moore’s goal for the 2016 title kings five minutes into the second half finally stirred Barmouth, and Dave Harding popped up with the immediate equaliser, meeting Ryan’s cross from the right.

Trearddur were reduced to 10 men around the hour, when midfielder Ryan Connolly was shown the red card for an abusive outburst, before Shane Jones gave the hosts the lead, following a free-kick.

Barmouth’s win was wrapped up by Jones hitting the third goal, with a glorious right-footer from an angle on the left.

Penrhyndeudraeth completed a quick-fire double over Nantlle Vale as they notched a 6-0 home success - following on from a 4-0 away triumph a week earlier.

Huw Quaeck netted a hat-trick and there were also goals scored by Adam Griffiths, Alun Hughes, a new signing from Blaenau Ffestiniog, who was also credited with two assists, and Cai Henshall.

Pwllheli’s poor performances on the road continued with a 5-1 defeat at St Asaph City, although Mark Jones marked his return after a three-match ban by opening the scoring after 10 minutes.

St Asaph stepped up the tempo after the break, with goals from Paul Fleming on 58 minutes, Jason Foulkes with a hat-trick on 68, 80 and 83, and Jake Walker on 79.

Llangefni clambered to the top of division one with a 2-1 win at Greenfield.

Having trailed to Liam Robinson’s goal for the hosts on 28 minutes, they landed their double whammy through Kyle Roberts and Harry Galeotti on 74 and 77.

Llanberis beat Llandyrnog United 4-1, with Callum MacDonald scoring on 25 minutes, Gethin Wakeham on 56, Iwan Pritchard on 77 and Jonathan Cyster on 88. Winless Llandyrnog managed only one reply, from Alex Webster on 58.

• BLAENAU Ffestiniog Amateurs were beaten 1-0 by Llanerchymedd in division two as the Anglesey side got their first league win this term at the 11th attempt.

Playing with just nine men for the last 10 minutes, having had Marquis Holland and then Andrew Roberts sent off, they snatched victory with the last kick, when Jerome Sillence converted a penalty.
